Vineyard Tour and Tasting at Smith & Evans Somerset Wine

Join us at Taunton Chamber of Commerce members Smith & Evans Somerset Wine at Higher Plot in Aller for a tour of their picturesque vineyard, followed by the opportunity to taste the delicious wines they produce, and chance to make some purchases too.

Please note that due to limited parking on site, we will be asking those booking to lift share where possible.

Wine Merchant and makers of Award Winning Sparkling Wines from the Heart of Somerset.

Guy Smith and Laura Evans planted the vineyard at Higher Plot in 2008 after a four year search for the perfect site to produce the highest possible quality sparkling wine. They work in the vineyard all year from midwinter pruning through to harvest in late summer. By living with the seasons they are constantly able to watch how the vines develop and mature.

"Much of the land at Higher Plot is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) It is rare unimproved limestone grassland that has never had any form of chemical fertiliser or herbicide applied and so has a huge range of grasses and wild flowers. We manage it to encourage a wide range of flora and fauna to the extent that when it was originally surveyed, the land was said to have the widest bio-diversity to be found in Somerset.
